    Could you explain me why I tall 5 cm lower with a weight 10 pounds higher than her? I am a 46 yrs man. I don't have for 10 pounds of latissimus dorci muscles, they probably look wider. Perhaps, this is not the case, approximatively 4 cm outside my thorax each side without any contraction when I watch me in the front of a mirror. 10 pounds of meat is a lot. Where I have put that. I swim and workout each day too.

    Thanks Chloe, Last week, I just started to study butterfly. I have already been swimming for a year now. I tried all the 3 key aspect you've mentioned, both in my visual and actual swimming. I can't believe how convenient such cues gave me that confidence boost. Almost immediately grasped what I needed to do moving forward. Your video is too short too, that amazed me as well. Cheers! TJ

    I can't stay underwater when dolphin kicking...i always float to the top. If i exhale a bit to get less boyant...i run out of oxygen after a few kicks. These kicks really drain my oxygen 'tank'.

    Impressive explanations. I have been casually helping non swimmers around the world on my travels to float and tread water first. Then learn basic freestyle to build their confidence in the ocean. This is what i have been looking for to help explain to them. You are all over it, in easy layman terminology. Thanks !

    So... how does one breathe in the necessary amount of air while only having your mouth out of the water for .5 seconds? I tried the 1 eye in and 1 eye out technique today, and all that helps me do is swallow more water 😅 Thanks for your lesson, im going to try and fix my timing tomorrow and hopefully that will help 😁

    Thank you Chloe! I watched your video and executed successfully this morning. Your advice to get forehead to knee was what clarified it for me. No other videos on RUclips and my coach ever told me this. Also, LOOKING at my knees while getting my forehead to knees was the key. You didn’t say this in the video, but I watched you do this and that was the final piece of the puzzle for me.

    Excellent. One of the best on breathing. However, it does not go into the actual breath work. A lot of youtube videos give contradictory advise on breathing in and out. For example, does one bubble out while stroking and then let all the air out forcefully before the inhale phase?

    This video is really AMAZING. I am so thankful. When I was listening to this the mistakes were perfect descriptions of me. Today I did the drills that were mentioned and OMG I broke my PB of easy 50 m swim from 41 s to 38 s (50 m pool with push off). At higher intensity(moderate pace) too I broke my PB of 36 s and did 34 s for 50 m with push off. I haven't tried a sprint yet but I think it will make a difference because I breathe 7-8 times in a 50 free sprint (I am just a newbie who started to learn free 2 years back)

    The key for me was to keep the body horizontal and head facing down, even as you touch the wall with both hands. Don't lift your head or change your body position until you're done elbowing with one arm and driving your knees into your chest. This knee-drive curls your body up into a ball; this should be what gives your head and torso the momentum to "snap backward" into the water. Another key is to fix your eyes on the edge of the pool as soon as you start spinning backward. This helps keep your chin tucked, keeps you turning fast, and gives you the best breathing position before your head re-enters the water. Took me over a year to get the mechanics down; hope this helps.

  • @MrMatthewhg
    @MrMatthewhg 3 месяца назад

    Really useful, thanks - but I wondered why it is wrong to turn to face down?

    • @aerovespr
      @aerovespr 2 месяца назад

      Because turning face down (4:41) is inefficient and slows down your turn. It's much smoother and faster to twist onto your front *after* kicking off the wall when you're already in streamline.
